The short version: we collect nothing.
OMEGA-Ω sets no cookies, uses no trackers, loads no third-party resources and has no accounts. The corrector, the dictation and the Hangman run entirely in your browser. That's why there's no "cookie" banner: we don't have any. Two exceptions, always signposted: voice typing, and reading aloud when your device has no English voice.
What stays on your device
To be useful, the site remembers a few settings locally (in your browser's localStorage): your readable font, theme, colour-blind palette, sound font & syllables if you set them, the words you add to your personal dictionary in the corrector (“It’s a word”), your consent for voice typing, the tool state (the text you're working on) and your progress in the dictation. It never leaves your device, it is sent to no one, and you can erase all of it by clearing the site's data in your browser.
What does not happen
- No cookies — neither ours nor third-party.
- No analytics — no Google Analytics, Plausible, Matomo, or any other.
- No advertising trackers, no spying social-media buttons.
- No request to a third-party server on load: fonts, icons and code are served from the site itself (links to GitHub or the source lexicons only fire if you click them).
- No account, no e-mail asked for.
Everything runs offline
The corrector, the dictation and the Hangman all run on your device — the checking, the scoring and the games never send your text or your answers anywhere. Reading aloud (the 🔊 of the corrector, the sentences of the dictation) uses your browser's speech synthesis, with a voice installed on your device when there is one — see the exception below.
Exception: voice typing
Voice typing turns your voice into text. To do that, the browser sends the audio to its speech recognition service (Google, in Chrome). So:
- It is off by default: nothing leaves until you tick the box and press the microphone.
- A note says so clearly right where you turn it on.
- The page also listens locally to measure your silences (to place punctuation). That sound is neither recorded nor sent.
- The checker stays 100 % offline — even while you dictate, the checking happens on your device.
- You are never required to use it: everything else works without it.
Exception: reading aloud
The 🔊 button of the corrector and the sentences of the dictation are read with a voice installed on your device. If it has no English voice, the browser may read with an online voice (in Chrome: its Google voice): the text being read is then sent to that service. This only happens when something is read aloud — the checking itself never sends anything.
